This week I took the opportunity to revise the material we’ve covered over the last five weeks. Each new topic has captured my interest and imagination; however, I’ve found it difficult to conduct in-depth research due to the time constraints of my weekly schedule. Nevertheless, we’re swiftly progressing through each week’s material, and although I can develop brief understandings at this rate, I have a hunger to learn more. As such, I’m thankful for this week’s break from new material and the time afforded to recuperate and strengthen my existing knowledge.

In revisiting previous weeks’ material, I’ve taken time to consolidate my existing journal posts, improving their taxonomy and ensuring a consistent layout. With that in mind, I’ve enjoyed using Driscoll’s (2007) model of reflection to guide my thoughts when writing each journal entry. It’s helped ensure I consider all aspects of reflection while frequently offering ideas and perspectives I otherwise wouldn’t have considered.

Finally, we were encouraged to perform an interim retrospective on our experience of the module so far. This includes reviewing items we’d like to start, stop and continue doing. As such, I’ve outlined these below:

Start...

  • Interacting more with your peers on the Spark Forum

  • Scheduling set periods of study throughout the week

  • Adding a minimum of two references for every reflection post

  • Start using Driscoll’s Model of Reflection more thoroughly and on every journal entry

Stop...

  • Going to bed after midnight

  • Working in a silo and not seeking advice and support from peers

  • Taking rough journal notes then not doing anything with them

Continue...

  • Watching YouTube videos to gain a better understanding of the week’s topic

  • Reading the material in each week’s Reading List

  • Attending the webinars each week
